电影《某种物质》由科拉莉·法尔雅(《复仇战姬》《睡魔》)导演，玛格丽特·库里、丹尼斯·奎德、黛米·摩尔、雨果·迭戈·加西亚等出演，本片被描述为“一部血腥的身体恐怖片”。
此前，雷·利奥塔（《致命ID》《荒野大飚客》）曾于2022年2月确定出演该片，但同年5月，他在拍摄前去世，丹尼斯·奎德（《后天》《一条狗的使命》）替代他出演了该片。
