日本上映后连续八周周末斩获票房冠军。影片将湘北高中VS山王工业的全国大赛搬上大银幕，最新发布的海报中，樱木花道、流川枫、三井寿、宫城良田和赤木刚宪全员登场。
《灌篮高手》是日本著名漫画家井上雄彦以高中篮球为题材的少年漫画，于《周刊少年Jump》1990年42号-1996年27号上连载，与《足球小将》和《棒球英豪》合称为日本运动漫画三大巅峰之作，陪伴了几代热爱篮球的孩子们成长。
