影片为了拍摄搭建了一个实景的芭比城堡，甚至造成了油漆市场短缺。该片的美术指导莎拉·格林伍德在采访中证实了这一点，莎拉表示“粉色成了电影的主题，Rosco油漆的大量使用（Rosco一般是影视专用的油漆品牌）最终导致国际市场短缺，全世界的粉色都在这了。”
导演格蕾塔·葛韦格强调要用亮粉：“我希望用的粉色要非常亮，一切都像快要‘太过了’，最重要的是要有一种童稚感。”
