此前，荷兰弟在接受采访时谈及《蜘蛛侠4》，表示：“蜘蛛侠这个角色是非常重要的，这个系列越来越成功，我感到非常幸运，我认为这种情况非常罕见，所以我想要保护这个传奇。”对于第四部的剧本，他表示，“我不会随便拍摄，我希望我们能够找到值得拍摄的故事。”
